At Taylor Pensoneau's presentation March 29 at the Mt. Vernon Public Library, Cyril Barton of Waltonville told the audience a fascinating story about his encounter with Black Charlie Harris when he attempted to buy farm land owned by the Shelton brothers.

Mildred Kell of Mt. Vernon attended a Downstate Publications event March 30, 2012, and told of being the surgical nurse on duty at the hosptial when Charlie Harris arrived to have a bullet removed from his hand after an altercation with an area farmer.


Mark Richison, formerly of Palmyra and now of Mount Carmel, drove to Mt. Vernon March 29, 2012, to hear Taylor Pensoneau's presentation about the Shelton Gang and Black Charlie Harris. David Belcher, reporter for the Mt. Vernon Morning Sentinel, listens in on the conversation. Belcher wrote an informative article about the talk for the March 30 issue of the newspaper.

A huge crowd turned up for the gala Gangster and Pals benefit book signing event at New Berlin April 18, 2010. Many vintage cars were on display at the event sponsored by The New Berlin Area Historical Society.
